After being introduced briefly at the beginning of the episode, Earth-2 Barry (Grant Gustin) was quickly dispatched of so Earth-1 Barry could take his place.
Sadly, he just didn’t get the time to shine that many may have been hoping for. He will though, and it’s going to make you laugh, according to executive producer Aaron Helbing.
Speaking to reporters at a screening of “Welcome to Earth-2,” Helbing says, “It’s hilarious. It was an interesting juggle between this very dire circumstance and there was this very funny Earth-2 Barry. It’s an interesting dynamic.”
As for who there is to thank for the Barry Allen viewers will see on Earth-2, Helbing gives a lot of credit to Gustin himself, for figuring out his doppelganger’s personality.
“Grant is one of those actors who can do anything. His comedic timing is amazing, his physical presence and humor is amazing,” he says. “Originally we thought he should have this Jimmy Stewart quality. We really just gave Grant a few ideas and he took it on himself and created this amazing guy you get to see in the next episode.”
“The Flash” airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. PT on Portland’s CW.
